Best RDP Location for Low Latency
Published on Feb 20, 2026 by RDP Ranker Team
Latency (or ping) is the time it takes for data to travel from your computer to the server and back.
In RDP, high latency creates a "sluggish" mouse cursor and delayed typing. Choosing the right
location is the #1 way to fix this.
General Rule of Thumb
Choose a data center closest to your physical location.
- USA Users: Choose New York (East Coast), Chicago (Central), or Los Angeles
(West Coast).
- Europe Users: Choose London, Amsterdam, or Frankfurt.
- Asia Users: Choose Singapore or Tokyo.
Special Use Cases
Sometimes, you need to be close to the *target*, not yourself.
- Forex Trading: If your broker is in London, pick a London VPS, even if you live
in Australia. This ensures the trade executes instantly.
- SEO / Geo-Unblocking: If you need to appear as a US resident to access US
content, you must pick a US server, regardless of the lag.
Testing Connectivity
Before buying, ask the provider for a "Looking Glass" or a "Test IP". You can ping this IP from your
command prompt to see exactly what your latency will be. Anything under 50ms is
excellent. Anything over 150ms will feel noticeable laggy.
